MEP for Kildare and first Vice-President of the European Parliament, Mairead McGuinness, has said the 150 jobs to be created over the next five years at Dawn Farms in Naas is a very positive development in an industry that has even greater potential for the future.
“The company is investing over €25 million in its Research and Development capabilities. Food science is truly leading edge and Naas is becoming a real hub for such industry.
“These high end jobs will bring exciting opportunities for graduates and specialists and will boost the local and national economy,” she said.
Ms McGuinness noted the announcement has come in the week when unemployment has fallen to 6.8pc for the first time since 2008.
“Domestically the economy is on a very positive trajectory.
“The priority now is to ensure Ireland achieves the very best deal on Brexit. And that is particularly relevant for the agri-food sector since it forms the greatest share of our exports to the UK,” she said.
